Contact Tracing: An important message from Air Canada.

Contact Tracing
Dear valued trade partner,
We hope that this finds you in good health and that you have been able to enjoy a restful long weekend. We are all working tirelessly towards the recovery of our industry and the resumption of service during these extraordinary times. As you may have heard, last week Air Canada announced that we are supporting McMaster HealthLabs in a research study offering free COVID-19 tests to international arriving customers at Toronto Pearson Airport in order to explore the effectiveness of various quarantine periods.
One of the critical actions in the fight against COVID 19 is contact tracing: the ability to trace and contact individuals who may have been in physical proximity with someone who may have tested positive for COVID-19.
While there have been some flights with customers later confirmed to have had COVID-19, Transport Canada, Minister of Transport Marc Garneau, and Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam have noted that there have not been any reported cases of onboard transmission in Canada to date. We are proud of our commitment to biosafety with our industry-leading program, Air Canada CleanCare+&#a0;and continue to introduce new measures to keep our customers and employees safe.
However we must always remain vigilant. In order to support our public health authorities and contact trace quickly, it is a Transport Canada requirement that we have accurate names and/or phone numbers for every booking that you make. Thank you to those who have been diligently entering complete and correct contact information to date in accordance with government regulations.
&#a0;
What we need from you
In addition to all the regular contact information you have always recorded on PNRs, per Transport Canada it is mandatory to specifically enter customer contact details. We are monitoring these closely. These must be entered using the standard IATA SSRs:
  • SSR CTCE: customer email address
  • SSR CTCM: customer mobile number
  • SSR CTCR: customer has declined to provide information&#a0;
&#a0;
Please feel free to add your agency contact details in addition to the customer information.
Our commitment to you
We will never use this customer contact data for marketing purposes. This is solely for operational and public health purposes. The personal medical information of our customers is confidential and should not be shared with unnecessary third parties.
A reminder about face coverings
Please remind our shared customers that wearing a face covering is a mandatory requirement issued by Transport Canada. In cases where customers have not complied, Air Canada has responded to incidents of disruptive behaviour: customers have been issued warnings and conditions, flights have returned to the gate in order to offload customers, and some have been banned from future travel with Air Canada. These incidents have all been reported to Transport Canada for additional follow-up. We all need to work together to communicate the importance of wearing face customers to our customers.
We greatly appreciate your support and cooperation as we work to rebuild our industry and secure our future health.
Sincerely,
Air Canada, Singapore
