BRITISH AIRWAYS – Pilot Strike Action – Rebooking on other carriers.

Dear Travel Partner,

 

We are disappointed to have to tell you that the British Airways’ pilots’ union, BALPA, has decided to go ahead with strike action.

We want to reassure you that we are still doing everything possible to reach an agreement with the trade union however, if strike action goes ahead, it will have an impact on our operations and result in a large number of delays or cancellations, for which we are very sorry.

 

The date of action will be on the 9th, 10th and 27th of September 2019. If you have a flight booked with us on those dates, it is likely that you will not be able to travel due to BALPA’s strike action. We will be offering all affected customers full refunds or the option to re-book to another date.

 

Affected flights:

Any British Airways service operating to/from:

LHR – London Heathrow

LGW – Gatwick

 

You may rebook onto any alternative British Airways operated flight on the same routing, any date before or after the original up to 355 days ahead (ticket validity may be extended).

Rebook into the same class as original or the lowest class available in the same cabin.

 

FOR CANCELLED BA FLIGHTS ON 125 TICKETS USE THE FOLLOWING REBOOKING OPTIONS ONTO OTHER CARRIERS: 

You may rebook following these guidelines and must adhere to rebooking period

  • Choose which carrier to book from the 2-letter code in the left-hand column
  • Check which routes are allowed for rebook
  • If any route, then may rebook any routing with same point or origin and destination as original.
    Advise customer to check for any transit visa if rebooking through a European or USA transfer point
  • Only rebook flights within the period indicated. If anytime, then rebook closest available to original travel date
  • Only rebook classes displayed or if none then can be lowest in the same cabin
  • If no equivalent cabin, then can rebook into a lower cabin but we cannot state if a refund is due as the ticket
    will need recalculating either pre or post-travel
  • We cannot upgrade any customer into a higher cabin, this will be classed as a voluntary change
  • If mandatory item displayed, this must be added when rebooking flight/s
  • If airline is not displayed on this list then cannot involuntary rebook unless allowed in the fare rules of original ticket

Passengers who hold ticket with other airline and has BA route to/from LHR-LGW on strike dates, please contact the airlines to get the guidance to change the date/route due to UN schedule.
